Brief History (if you want) :
"Stars....shining....crossing....over them....over stars....", is all he ever remembers. He has no memories of his past. StarCrosser was abandoned by his parents at Whispering Woods & grew up living in that forest. Fearing that they are those who wish to harm him, he hid from civilization & made a living near nature.

Special Abilities (if any) :
The ability to jump really high (4 storeys/floors high). This is extremely useful since he can't teleport like other unicorns. It uses up his magic stamina to jump & land safely. It takes 30 seconds to recharge his Magic Meter after a single high jump. He can high-jump 4 times before his magic stamina is drained out. A green aura of magic covers his hooves/feet when he attempts a high-jump.

[Weaknesses]
His true weakness is COLD. He lacks the powers that other unicorns have (telekinesis, teleportation, etc). Although he can high-jump 4 times at a moment, he rarely does the 4th jump before recharging. This is because by the 4th jump, his magic meter would be empty & he wouldn't be able to land safely. He is overprotective & may risk life & limb to protect others, most of the time injuring himself in the process....

So let's take a look at this guy. Name is fine (whichever way you'd like to spell it) and age is fine.

Could you maybe walk over to here ( ) and give me a color code reference for his colors? Some people have different ideas when it comes to colors, so I just want to double check, 'kays?

If he has crystal eyes then Starcrosser would be a non ancient Twinkle Eyed pony (TE).

For your first character, he has too many powers, sorry. So if you could choose say 2-3 that especially like and just have him have those, please? I'll go over them all so you know what we'll need for whatever ones you choose.

[1] How strong is his lightening? How far away can he shoot it? For how long can he use it before he gets tired?

[2] For his absorption, How much lightning does he have to drain, "grab" to heal with it? How heavily can he heal? Say for instance....

5 minutes of draining/drinking lightning he can heal cuts and bruises.
10 minutes ............................................ deep cuts and wounds.
etc...?

the other two powers/abilities seem fine as stated. Though...I would say his horn is still weak to magical attacks. It would just take a large amount of force to break his horn, more than usual.

Please note you would not be able to "pick" his targets during play. Unless they are NPCs. Members have the first say in what happens to their own characters. Just FYI.

Also, if this does cause a storm, what kind? and for how long?

If you'll address these questions, then I can come back read over your replies and see if he is ready for my approval. After then you'll still need one more before play.

All new characters are limited to one ability. Unicorns are allowed to Wink + one ability.

The problem with absorbing electricty is the fact that there isn't any electrical devices in Ponyland. He would have to generate his own electricity or be making some static electricity, or be absorbing electricity from thunderheads.

I find it hard to believe that StarCross would even be alive after discharging a 4-minute stream of electricity--as it would drain the character of magic and probably of his life force. If you want to keep the electricity power, I'd limit his abilities with electric to that which thunderclouds could perform.

If StarCross were to discharge the electricity, it would have to be through the ground. Electricity WANTS to ground itself. If he did shoot it in the sky, it would inadvertantly want to come back down.

Though I could see him being able to leap being more beneficial than healing himself with hard-to-come-by electricity, I'm not going to make that decision for you. You do need to drop one of his abilities though--to make it fair for the rest of the members.

Apart from the discrepancies that the other two mods have listed (no need to repeat what has already been said)

I have two points...

1) He can be a twinkled eyed pony AS LONG AS you make it very clear that he is not ancient/immortal. I didn't get the feeling that you were aiming for that so it's not much a problem is it? There are TE ponies around still... Take Southern cross for example, they are just not ancient. (Sorry Jen)

2) He doesn't need to know anything of his past... but we kinda do. I don't think you are going to turn around and be irresponsible with this but... fair is fair. The thing is... if you are planning for him to have some very "interesting" past we would like to check it out BEFORE he just happens to remember it. It doesn't get much worse having a really good, developed character and a great feel for how he's going to react to the info of his past then have a mod step in and say... "errr... that isn't going to work and you'll have to think of something else for him." Understand? WE really hate doing that.

That said... if you would like to keep his past hush hush from everyone else, that's fine, PM me with your ideas for his past etc... and the mods can review it "off board" and then give you the A-OK. SOund good?

Just a quick note here: Starcross, I won't do a review here, 'cause other mods have already started it, so it's up to them to decide what goes or doesn't go with your character. But I'd like to help clear up something that, I'm afraid, might have been misunderstood: Starcross, I don't wish to be rude and I certainly hope you don't take it that way , but the comments and feedback from the mods is not criticism. It's what you have to change in order to have your character approved. Of course you're more than welcome to comment, reply and talk about different options. But, see, when the mods tell you that having this and that power is unfair for other members, it's because they have spent a long time here analyzing dozens of other characters, watching how they interact in different rping situations, and trying to keep a good fair balance among the level of power granted to all members. Regardless of how things can work in other rpgs or games, we try to make things equally balanced here for all members, and, I'm sorry to say, I too believe - like Jennifer, Colormist and Sider - that Starcrosser cannot be approved unless you do the necessary changes that they have asked for, specially considering that he's a first char. Some very powerful characters like dragons and Ancient Twinkle-Eyed Ponies do exist, but they're only granted to experienced members.

Honestly, I'd hate for you to believe that we're being too harsh or too strict, or don't wanna listen to opinions. Of course we do! But, please, you must also remember that the mods have a long experience with this particular game and have very good reasons to ask you for these changes. OK? So, unless they say otherwise, you need to do the changes (and add the aditional information) they have asked for if you want the review process to continue.

The only other issue I have is a small one with his electrical power. I would think that a 1 million volt shock would kill just about anything instantly, and that would pretty much make Starcrosser invincible. Granted there are some terribly strong characters floating around, but invincibility is more along the lines of a draconic trait......

I think, that if you want to stick with the 1 million volt concept, that should be limited to very short bursts of concentrated electricity. For prolonged shocks (like the 4 minutes you mentioned) it might make more sense that the shock starts off at a million volts but gradually loses power. (kind of like using a battery powered drill. as the battery dies, the drill spins slower and slower..... ) Short bursts would probably be more effective anyways, because in some kind of fight situation, there will be a lot of movement, and a steady stream of electricity would just drain him and keep him from focusing on other things that might be going on.

Oh, and this isn't essential, but I'd just like to know, does he shoot the electricity from his horn, or does his horn have to be touching the thing he wants to zap for it to actually be zapped?

As for being able to jump really high, can he do it from a standing position, or does he have to get a running start?

Since you said he is unable to wink, I think there might be a simple solution to this "two powers" issue. In one MLP episode (the one where the newborn twins are invited to a castle and the bratty girl tries to keep them for pets) a bunch of the ponies are locked in a dungeon. You'd think that for the unicorns that wouldn't be a big deal, but for whatever reason, they don't/can't wink. So, one of the unicorns levitates the keys from the guard into the cell so they can get out. Soooo.......

Instead of winking, maybe Starcrosser could be able to levitate things, and he could use his levitation on himself to jump higher than normal. Of course, since that would take concentration also, he would't be able to reach certain heights, and he'd probably have to rest after doing it a bunch of times, or doing a super-high jump. (I'm going to need some other mod opinions on this idea)

As for him being a twinkle-eye, I agree that this is alright as long as he isn't ancient.

And about his past, I also think we should know at least a little. It definitely doesn't mean that Starcrosser has to know his own past though. I have a character myself who doesn't remember her own past, but the only background I ever gave for her was that she was created by the VO witches as part of their "army" and was sent to fight somewhere, and while fighting she somehow broke out of their control (a hit on the head, whatever) and couldn't remember any of her life before then. (like she had been brainwashed/hypnotized or something). I never got any complaints about that, so even something simple would suffice.

No need to appologize Starcross. If you ever peak into more of the past Character approvals you'll see that this detailed assessment and approval process happens all the time!

So let's see here...

Did you mean his eye color is green or that his pupils and his eye color is green? The pupil is normally the black sentral part of the eye where the light enters into the eyeball. Just want to make sure I'm reading it right, there is no problem with it either way. I'm just being curious!

Colormist: His history was too detailed or just, complex?
Starcross: I agree wit hthe other mods, Starcrosser doesn't need to know his past but the Mods need to have some idea of what you have in mind. Or, if you do not have anything in mind at the moment, once you do have something you need to submit it to us. It doesn't have to be anything super detailed. Just an outline. This way we know in advance that his unknown past (to him) is not going to conflict with anything already written or known about EOD.

How long on average does he wait between blasts? 4 mins. ? 2 mins.? I think a good balance of 4 mins. blasts= 4 min. rest period would be good. so for instance, it could come down to 30 second shots with 30-60 secons (30 seconds to a minute) between shots. as long as the energy used is restored. you see? What do you think?

I also think Andromeda's levitation idea for his leaping ability is great. Though iguess I have to be the odd-person-out and say that I think having him have a leaping ability on its own is fine. As long as the highest he could jump would be no higher than a 3 story building or farther than say half the length of a football field (approx. 100 yards.)

Once you give us your thoughts and feed back concerning these last few tweaks I think I may be ready to give you an approval.

Far too complex for a starter character. It probably wouldn't be approved for veteran members either. It involved an alternate pillar. Similar to the problem Aru proposed with his character submission.

Ahh ok. It must have been edited before I could read it. Alternate Pillars are cool, but Colormist is right, that will have to be left to a future character

I only recently began delving into that aspect of the game! And I've been here for 3+ years. Which, what I'm trying to say with that is, take your time start gentle and work up to the big things as you get a hang of the game!
