Position: Low ranking peacekeeper in the Clan of Lost Dreams
Appearance: Black mane and tail. In her mane and tail is a single yellow streak. Her body colours are dark orange and brown (hex colours: #CC7F32 and #8B5A2B) and she has large brown eyes.
Symbol: A hawk in flight.
Special Abilities:
Winking, Air manipulation
Winking: Nepthys has basic winking abilities, but they are not very refined. She has to be able to see where she is going and she can not wink through objects such as nets and if, for example she was held in a cell, she would not be able to wink out.
Air Manipulation: Nepthys can cause air blasts and recently has learnt to create whirlwinds with her horn.
She can move when creating her air blasts, but obviously the longer and harder the blast, the longer she has to power-up and the longer she has to wait between them. The strongest blast she can create is enough to take a pony off it's hooves and knock it over. Generally speaking though, she uses it to blast dirt, very, very, small fragments of rock (~7mm diameter at most) and dust to blind her opponents. This does not require much energy.
Her whirlwinds are a new ability she has recently developed. At the moment the largest she can create are about half her size. She needs to concentrate, so moving and creating a whirlwind is very difficult for her, and it costs her a lot of magical energy. The whirlwinds aren't very strong and are only able to pick up dust. Effectively, at the moment they are only good for making any opponent sneeze.
History:
She was born on the surface, just as the Great Death was beginning to take hold. Her mother - having left her home to try and avoid the plague that seemed to be sweeping through the ponies only survived a little while longer after the birth of her foal.
But she survived long enough to name her baby Nepthys, and long enough to tell her to that she loved her and would always be with her. She wasn't sure if Nepthys understood, and after she died the newborn Nepthys wondered around, lost and very scared.
She surely would have died if she hadn't heard a harrowing moan. She ran, deeply afraid for the horrific sound, but she was unsteady on her legs and found herself falling deep into the earth. Nepthys had fallen into the Chasm of Lost Dreams, and was quickly brought in front of the Lord Malikye by the Peacekeepers that found her. He was merciful and allowed her to live, placing her with a couple that recently had a new baby of there own.
Nepthys was brought up as a loyal servant and follower of Malikye, and joined the Peacekeepers as soon as she was old enough. But she is haunted by visions and dreams she doesn't understand and it prevents her from advancing further among the ranks of the Peacekeepers.
Extra Notes:
She knows that she is not a natural child of her parents, but she does not know she came from the surface. She underwent an intensive programme of brainwashing after she fell to convince her that the surface was merely a 'nightmare' and that her real parents died in the service of Lord Malikye; it was through his mercy that she was allowed to survive.
Over the past few years, she has been haunted by dreams (they are more like nightmares to her) of the surface and her real mother. Her dreams tell her to leave the Chasm; follow her own path and to help others. As such, she had not advanced far beyond the junior ranks of the peacekeepers, since she fears mixing with more powerful, able ponies will reveal her 'dark' thoughts and she will be tried for treason. Nepthys thinks of herself as a loyal and devoted follower of Malikye, so the idea that keeps popping up in her head -that she has a life above the Chasm, and that she should leave his service- terrifies her.
