Well, time for one more horse to belong to my herd ^^ . A long time ago, when I said that Macros would be just a support char "for the time being", Te replied: "yeah, FOR THE TIME BEING". Oh well, eventually I knew I would develop him. It is my pleasure to introduce...
---Macros---
Note: Macros is very closely related to my character Southern Cross. Their background histories are completely intertwined, you could say they share a great part of the same story. So, to save you guys the job of going over the whole history again, I'm quoting some parts of Southern Cross's approved history in red. The only new added parts - still unapproved - will be in black.
Name: Macros
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Breed/Species: Clydesdale. Pony of darkness (currently living in Paradise Beach, Rainbow Dreams).
Appearance: A strong Big Brother, just slightly larger and bulkier than the average one. Please take a look at this website - http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html - for his colours.
- Coat: gray66 #A8A8A8. Hooves are lighter gray. - Mane and tail: white and several variations of green (mint blue #DBFEF8, liberty #A4DCD1 and greencopper #527F76) - Eyes: Left one is green, right one is blue. - Symbol: compass and GPS receiver (pic) Neither Macros nor anyone else has the slightest idea of what the last one is.
Special skills: Big and very strong, Macros can be a very tough fighter like all Clydesdales, given his size and weight. However, he hasn't been formally trained in fighting techniques, so while he can be a hard opponent against average ponies, he's no ultimate match for well trained warriors.
Macros is also very intelligent and patient, and keen on science and technology, so he's devoted himself enthusiastically to learning what he can in Rainbow Dreams. To be a pony from the medieval-like northern mainland, he's assimilated a good amount of scientifical knowledge since he arrived at the southern continent.
Special powers: Macros can sense the presence of magic, both in living creatures and objects or places. Think of it like a sense similar to hearing: we can determine the direction it comes from; the louder the sound, the clearer we can hear it and the greater the distance we can get it from. Macros can determine the direction magic is coming, and also perceives its "intensity". Since all ponies and other creatures in Ponyland are magical (at least ponies, dragons and bushwoolies, I think), he can sense their presence even if he can't with his other natural senses, depending on how near they are to him and how intense the magic in them is in that moment.
Ellaboration: This is a hard one. I'm not sure about the distance and intensity, since we have no degree scale to measure magic, but I'll try to give an approximate idea. Macros senses the magic of a normal pony of darkness at 100 meters maximum (however, if the pony suddenly uses strong magical powers, like a unicorn winking out, he'd sense the "flash" from a greater distance, just for as long as the magic lasts). A much more powerful pony, creature or object, though, like an ATE, a dragon, or Kimono, Celeste or Star Catcher in Rainbow Dreams, or strong magical objects like the Rainbows of Light and Darkness, the Heart of Ponyland or the Bell in Tambelon (seen that episode?) would be sensed from miles away, depending on how powerful it is. Read: Macros can't recognize who or what he's sensing. Not even recognize if it's a living creature or an object. He just perceives somehow the presence of magic in a specific direction, without further detail.
Depending on the situation and the location, he can also sense the presence of large groups of ponies since he perceives their magic all together. For example, in Paradise Beach he senses magic everwhere since it's full of ponies, coming from all directions. Like us living in a big city, we hear sounds everywhere at all times, coming from all directions. However, if you were lost in a dessert and there were a large group of people far away, all of them talking and making noise together, you would hear something coming from a specific direction. If Macros is alone on the top of a mountain, a valley or a dessert, and there's a town full of ponies (many many ponies) somewhere, he'd sense somehow the presence of magic in that direction. This is something he perceived as he was sailing towards Rainbow Dreams from the Twilight Isles: as he approached the southern continent, which was already largely populated by then, he could somehow sense the presence of magic to the south, eventhough he could still not see the shore (it was too far away for that), since there was a whole continent full of magical ponies far to the south.
Side notes: - Unlike our human senses of sight or hearing, Macros doesn't feel pain or comes to harm when in the presence of awfully strong magic, as our eyes or ears do in the presence of too strong light or noise. He would just sense that there's something or someone incredibly powerful there.
- I would say that he can perceive the presence of "magic in the air" if it's very strong and it's being sent from somewhere else. For example: there's a thread where Malikye captured Berenice when she was in Lucicitta, using the power he extracted from an ATE, even though Malikye was at great distance. If Macros had been in Lucicitta, he would've felt an incredible amount of magic coming from the room where Berenice was "captured". Also, in the thread where Spike's image appears in front of the Gates of Dream Castle and talks to Silver Dream, it was said that this image of Spike was sent from very, very far away through some extremely powerful magical artifact. If Macros had been near Dream Castle, I believe he would have sensed an awful lot of magic "happening" in front of the gates.
I know it may seem like really powerful, but I thought this would be more an interesting ability than a powerful one. He knows when magic surrounds him, or when it comes from a specific direction, but he has no extra magical powers. However, if you guys feel it's too powerful, just let me know and I'll work it out, kay?
Family: Mother: Wind Whistler (canon G1) Father: A Big Brother pony called Cosmos
History: Born in the year 9 BD as a pony of darkness, a few days after Justice, Macros spent his childhood with his parents in Paradise Estates, the little town in Dream Valley where he met and befriended several of his mother's friends and their off-springs. Since his father, being a merchant, spent long periods travelling around, Macros grew specially used to hanging with his mother and her pegasi friends in Paradise Estates. To help take care of the young Clydesdale while she was not at home, Wind Whistler counted on the help of Light Dream, a pegasus mare a few years older than Macros (and thus a pony of light) who was a daughter to the canon G1 named Paradise. She usually helped baby-sit Macros during his first years, and became like an older sister to him and one of his best friends. When Light Dream and Macros went out for a walk, the pegasus mare would soon join other pegasi in the air, and Macros would run as fast as he could trying to catch up with them, as though he had wanted to be born a pegasus too and have wings. It was during those years that he developped greath physical strength, pushing his body to the limit to try and run as fast as the pegasi could fly, a deed that almost always proved impossible but one he would never tire of, and thanks to the rather tough sports and games that he, as a Clydesdale, took part on ocasionally with other colts his own breed.
Macros spent most of his childhood in Paradise Estates and its surroundings, and soon proved to be Wind Whistler's son. Logical and a deep-thinker, he usually showed more interest in philosophing about life and learning about nature from a scientific point of view than the long trips his father wanted to take him on, the affairs of business and trading, or the ancient legends and lore his friend Light Dream was so fond of reading in Paradise's books. He did like to sail, though, specially because of his scientific curiosity which made him wonder about the differences between earth and sea life and weather. Thus Salty (canon Big Brother), a good friend of his father Cosmos, was more than glad to take him a few times on small journeys to the coastal villages west of Dream Castle where they set sail for a few days. Macros also got to visit a few places in Ponyland, like Dream Castle and Flutter Valley. During this time (around 1 BD) he didn't see Light Dream for a while, busy as he was with his little journeys, and when he returned to Paradise Estates she told him that she was pregnant, but the father of her still unborn baby was kind of avoiding her. Even being an 8-year-old colt, Macros tried to locate the father, and soon found out why he was avoiding Light Dream: the father, a unicorn son to Galaxy, had another mare and a son, a unicorn colt a little younger than Macros. Macros preferred to hide this little discovery from Light Dream, and just told her he would help her take care of her baby, just as she had helped take care of him when he was young.
(What follows is part of Southern Cross's history) The Great Death began practically at the same time of Southern Cross's birth. Light Dream only lived for a few months after her son’s birth. When she was about to die, she asked Macros to take care of Southern Cross. Macros was only nine by then, but he was the only pony that she would trust with her son's life. At his young age, and losing his own parents within that very year, Macros found himself suddenly completely alone. But knowing that the baby had no-one else in the world besides him, the young clydesdale took it upon himself to take care of Southern Cross.
After the Great Death, Macros, like most of the population in Ponyland, highly disliked the events that followed Silver Dream’s rise to power and the turmoil that spread throughout the land. When the first ponies of the Twilight Isles came to Dream Valley for possible trade agreements, the young stallion got to know of the existence and the location of these Isles and managed to flee to them around 2 AGD, taking Southern Cross with him.
Unfortunately, the Twilight Isles didn’t prove to be a more appropriate place to raise a little foal either. The disorder and occasional violence of their new home (with clans still battling for power) made Macros look for a new place to live barely a few months after their arrival, and he got to know of the existence of a large continental mass to the south of the Isles. Taking a ship on one of the southern harbours, they set sail and arrived at the land known as Rainbow Dreams in the year 3 AGD. Southern Cross was only three years old by then. According to the Rainbow Dreams calendar, it was the year 5 AA.
The little coastal town they arrived to was called Paradise Beach and had been founded three years before. From many leagues away, Macros had sensed the presence of strong magic somewhere in the south. For five years, more and more ponies had been arriving at the land known as Rainbow Dreams, and being magical creatures created by Morgana's wishes, they as a whole created a strong feeling of magic that seemed to radiate from their continent when Macros and Southern Cross were in the middle of the sea, just as a strong feeling came from the Twilight Isles and an even stronger from the northern mainland. The G3 ponies welcomed the two foreigners from the far north very warmly and with the utmost surprise and curiosity. A pegasus and pony as big and strong as Macros (who was twelve by then and was quickly developping his body) had never been seen in that land, but being very good-natured and unusually kind and friendly, they stopped asking questions when they noticed Macros's shyness and uncomfortable looks. Most of their neighbours in Paradise Beach simply knew that they hailed from a land to the north. Macros and Southern Cross quickly integrated to their new home. Seeing that the newcomers didn't posess magnetic hooves and couldn't handle the different devices, a local smith and technician came up with two ingenious inventions: magnetic horseshoes that could be activated with slight pressure of their hooves. Thus the two ponies of darkness were able to integrate fully to life in Rainbow Dreams. Macros, specially, grew very fond of their new home and did his best to forget his homeland and their origins, and applied himself enthusiastically in learning what he could of their new land. An interest that, despite his efforts, wasn't shared by his "younger brother" Southern Cross.
Knowing that pegasi were mythical in Rainbow Dreams (and Big Brothers weren't an everyday sight either), Macros decided that the two of them should remain in Paradise Beach most of the time. Unlike Southern Cross, Macros is a little mistrustful in spite of his good nature because of the deep effects the Great Death and Silver Dream's rise to power had in him as a young foal. The two of them lived happily in Paradise Beach for many years, until the day Southern Cross decided to visit his northern homelad. Unable to stop him, Macros has remained alone for many weeks in their little house in Rainbow Dreams. While his neighbours are absolutely kind with him and try to cheer him up, the Big Brother has started considering the idea of going on a trip to Ponyville and integrating himself more to the life in his new home. With the Friendship Ball approaching, he's wondering whether it would be a good opportunity to meet new friends from other towns, and try to fill the hole the young pegasus has left in his heart since his departure.
(There! And yeah, I know, another novel-long profile. Sorry, I can't help myself. @__@ Ermm..yeah...so I'll be waiting anxiously for a review ^__^ Ready to answer any questions, ellaborate on anything or make editions if you see any problems. Thanks!)

Just a few comments here..
1) I don't find his power too strong, however, if it were a part of an offensive power then it would be for sure.
2) umm.... his history has got every little scrap of detail that I could ever want... so, I really don't have any questions there.
As far as I'm concerned... he's all good. Sorry I overlooked this.
