Brief History : Blood Cry, born within a herd of travelling ponies, was hated by his kin for having born with 'evil' powers. When he let out his first cry almost everyone around him fainted, others could not move. He grew under the hated & feared eyes of his family & relatives. One day, some of his cousins bullied him, kicking & stomping him with their hooves. This event forced Blood Cry to unleash his power unto his cousins to protect himself. They were unconscious for hours. Blood Cry's kin agreed that this was the final straw & decided to banish him from their herd forever. Heart-broken, an outcast, he began traveling from one place to another, hoping to find a place where his existence would be accepted without fear or hatred.

Characteristics : Imaginative, loyal, understanding & emotional. He carries a sad expression on his face most of the time.

Special Abilities : Aside from flying, he has a BLOOD-curdling CRY (scream or roar) which sounds like the terrified screams of a hundred children that makes other creatures' blood freeze, causing temporary paralysis or loss of consciousness, & turning them pale with fear. His cry can be activated ONLY when he uses a LOUD voice. Normal tones & volumes won't work. Plus he can only use as much as it doesn't hurt his throat or vocal cords. He would also ONLY use it for emergency, fearing that he might effect innocent creatures. Not all characters will suffer the same from effect. Those who are really brave WON'T turn pale with fear. As for the physical vitality, the stronger one's vitality means the faster he/she would break out of the paralysis effect & won't fall unconscious. If a characters will is so weak, he/she will fall unconscious under Blood Cry's roar.

Weaknesses : He cannot swim, is sensitive, & is still young & inexperienced. [40, 4]

Just a quick bump to say I've seen this, but I need to discuss a couple of things with the other mods first We'll be getting back to you soon enough!

How often do you foresee the character using the Cry ability? Only in emergencies? If he's only slightly startled? Or as a defensive ability? How much control does he have over the ability?

You may want to generlize the ability some. Fo instance, some bad guys may not mind the sound of screaming children, and what if a pony if deaf?

We usually try our best to write the powers so that other members can decide if the power works or not. yu may want to check out some of the other approved characters to see how their pwoers are written for help.

Out of curiousity, what exactly is the quote for? Is that sort of a character descriptor? Like something the defines Blood Cry? You may want to move it to its own line for ease of reading.

One last thing, what are the numbers for? [40,4] I don't understand it. when we, the mods, hear from you we'll be able to give yu some more input and decide if BC's ready for aproval. Let us know more about that power, ok?

Unless you Mods want magic to be at work here. It won't effect creatures that are unable to hear. I got the idea from the Khezu (wyvern) in Monster Hunter (PS2). The quote expresses Blood Cry's sorrow. As for the numbers... just to remind of the size of a real pony I met at a certain show. 40 inches tall at shoulder, 4 inches diameter of hoof. Just to help me visualize my character more easily.

This is looking pretty good so far, you've pretty much have got my go ahead..

There is one thing we need to sort out first, though it's not a huge thing...

The land that Ponyland (G1) has become isn't a great place for nurturing a great education. Most ponies here can't read because the importance of surviving for the last 18 years since the Great Death has taken precedence. The ponies that can read are the ones that have lived in the temples, places of higher learning or have been wealthy enough to hire a scholar (usually from the temple to come and tutor them).

now.. because the general population CAN'T read, there isn't a huge amount TO read. I'm not saying that you have to take out that part of Blood Cry's profile but I am saying that there has to be some way in which Blood Cry's family/herd has come to have the ability to read. (my lord, that was a long sentence...)

I'm not too sure what you mean by this. See, you say at first it's the sound that he makes (the screams of children) but then to state this, so this statement contradicts the previous description.

Can you clear it up for me? My suggestion would be to delete that sentence. Then the power would be sound related. Which means deaf creatures would be immune. Sound good?

It sounds like his power has a different effect on different people, "causing temporary paralysis or loss of consciousness, & turning them pale with fear."
The word "or" indicates to me that it's not going to have the same effects on everyone; which I think is a good thing.

... in D&D I would say that it sounds like a Constitution thing (physical vitality). Someone with a lower constitution would be effected more so than someone with a higher constitution.

I would like it to be understood that the people playing the characters that could be/are effected by Blood Cry's power have the choice, they can decide if their character would be strongly effected by it or not. I would also like you to perhaps add this note in the character profile as well, just so it's clear to everyone.
