Updated: Argonis suffered severe eye damage after being sent to the surface by Malikye. This causes him to become completely blind. (A very small amount of vision will return when he gets back to the Chasm, but within 3 days he will be 100% blind because both his corneas and retinas are burned beyond repair) As his vision fades completely his eyes cloud over and will become a uniformed white.

Because of his failed sight, his hearing becomes sharper than the average pony. He'll also be highly aware of skin sensations such as temperature change and touch. Since he has pretty well-developed mental abilities, his mind will begin to compensate for his sight. This happens very much like a bat's echo-location ability, but using his mental powers instead of sound waves, he's able to send out mental energy in a 360 degree sphere. His mind is then able to "map" his surroundings by using input from his heightened hearing, touch, and the psychic energy that is bounced back to him.

Initially, this is an adaptive ability to compensate for the loss of one of his senses. He gets the "feeling" he's too close to an object/pony and moves to avoid it. At this stage it is subconscious and automatic. As he becomes more aware of this ability, however, he is able to refine and consciously control it. He will be able to map his surroundings in an almost 3-D way in his mind's eye. It will be very accurate and in "real time". Initially, his "mental location" will be very draining and he will only be able to "see" an area within a 5 foot sphere for about 30 minutes. As he uses the ability and his brain adjusts, he'll be able to see in up to a 50 ft. sphere and maintain it almost indefinitely. This ability will weaken all of his other mental abilities while he is using it. There will be a much greater deficit on all of his other mental abilities when he firsts begins using the "mental location" (up to 90%). Later, once he's "use to it", there will be a reduction of at least 1/4 to 1/2 on his already approved abilities as long as he’s using this one. (For example, his "hypnosis" ability would be about 1/2 as effective as it would be if he wasn't using "mental location")


Appearance: Argonis is a dark storm cloud gray. He has a black mane and tail of average length, black hooves and a black tipped horn with thin black stripe that starts at the base of his horn and twines its way to the tip. The only color on him at all is a dark navy blue stripe in both his mane and tail. His symbol is a silver and black ouroboros that sits on each hip. An ouroboros is a snake that eats its own tail and is the symbolization of concepts such as completion, perfection and totality, the endless round of existence, etc..

The most notable things about his appearance are his eyes. Argonis’ eyes are completely black, not even showing the whites. He’s also completely colorblind, seeing on a gray scale only. Because of this, he’s especially sensitive to light and has better “night vision” than most other ponies, which allows him to see clearer in the darker areas of the chasm. (If anyone needs a full explanation as to why, I can offer it The only color he can see is the red of Malikye’s eyes, so his Lord’s eyes are the most beautiful things in the world to him. (He can’t see red anywhere else but his lord’s eyes or in the eyes of the Lord’s Own, when Malikye possesses her. So, if a pony with a red coat walks by, the pony looks gray like everything else.)

Family: Argonis’ father was an Elder for several years, forming a close friendship with Autumn Fern’s parents. Argonis’s father died several years ago. His mother is a priestess for Malikye, though her devotion isn’t quite as strong as her son’s.

Personality: Argonis shows very little emotion, appearing firm but serene when he’s speaking public. When approached by or having to interact with a “lower class” pony, Argonis will take a scornful attitude, feeling that these lowly ponies are well beneath him. When speaking with one of equal class, his tone becomes indifferent. However, he looks down on all others, including those that are the same class as himself, but his Lord. Argonis is completely, utterly and totally devoted to Malikye. It’s only in Malikye’s presence, when he can see his Master’s red eyes, that Argonis can feel joy and happiness. Argonis is very aloof, not associating with any but those he absolutely has to. Most ponies of the Clan would be at least a little uneasy around him because Argonis is one of the priests that performs the cleansings on those who stray from the path. He rather enjoys the notoriety that comes as part of that job. Argonis does have a strong sense of duty and would do anything his Lord wishes. He feels very little affection for anyone else, including his parents, though he does feel an obligation to them because without their status and work, he feels that he would not have been able to be a high priest and not know his Lord (ie, see him every now and then) as he does now.

Abilities: Argonis has the regular winking ability of any unicorn. However, he is able to wink to a spot that Malikye sends him (telepathically), even if he has not been to that spot personally. Malikye himself must have seen the place he wishes Argonis to wink to. Argonis MUST be within a 5 mile radius of the destination in order to wink there, however. (In other words, Malikye can’t send him a mental picture of Dream Castle and Argonis wink there.)

Since Argonis “cleanses” those ponies that stray from Malikye’s path, he has strong hypnosis and telepathic abilities. Cleansing happens when those within the clan begin drifting from the Path and stray towards discontent. It involves brainwashing and “saving” those ponies. Most of the ponies that are being saved are not willing, which requires Argonis to overpower them mentally, brainwash / hypnotizes them back into submission. Argonis can only use his powers to their full extent while cleansing a pony because they take all (100%) of his concentration and leave him very weak, mentally and physically, for several hours afterwards. (Sider mentioned that there’s a process involved with the cleansing, which involves several assistants, so Argonis can’t do all of it on his own. For especially hard cases, Malikye steps in and Argonis serves as assistant if/when his master needs him.) He can not walk around and just hypnotize or brainwash ponies at will. When not cleansing, he can give mild telepathic suggestions, though nothing that would be completely against what a pony would do anyway. (Think Obi Wan in Star Wars: “These are not the droids you’re looking for….”) The stronger willed a pony is, the less an affect the suggestion will have. The weaker willed a pony is, the stronger the suggestion. (So, his affect on a person’s character is completely up to them

History: While still a young foal, Argonis was betrothed to Autumn Fern because of the wishes of both his parents and hers. He’s known of his betrothal his whole life, but does not know who his future mate is. (He knows Autumn as an acquaintance, having lived and worked in close quarters with her for most of his life, but does not know her as his betrothal, nor has any affection for her.) Even as a foal, Argonis was a loner, never associating with other foals or showing much affection for his parents. Argonis was put into priest training early, and has continued to make his way up the ranks. Several years ago, Argonis’s father died from a sleeping sickness that made its way through parts of the clan. He is currently estranged from his mother, no longer needing her for his rank. He sees her on occasion, and may speak a word or two to her, though little more. He is grateful to her and his father for his position in the Clan and for their support while he completed his priest training. Because of that, he is honoring his betrothal out of a feeling of obligation to their wishes, though after Autumn and he are united, he will cut all ties with his parents, having fulfilled his duties as their son in his eyes.

Wow Winter sounds like you've got him well worked out. As long as you've discussed everything with Sider (which it sounds like you have) then I don't see any problems.

Oi I had to dig to find this! I hope I submitted the revision right. Since this is an evolving condition and he'll be learning how to control this ability gradually, I wrote the update as what I'm planning for him now and in his future RP existence instead of him discovering a brand new ability all at once. Hope it's OK!

Wow-wees Winter! I went and read the RP (Which I was meaning to do anyways) and this seems very acceptable. Unless Sider finds something she feels need to be tweaked. I approve this revision!

No tweakage needed here... He's all good... or rather, I suppose that, "He's all BAD" would be more appropriate here!
