Background: Marina was an only child, and her father died during the time of the Great Death before she was born. Her mother managed to survive, but when her father died, her mother's heart was forever broken. Marina had to start taking care of her mother and house at an early age. Her mother died when she 4 though and she had to be raised by one of the older ponies. She has a maternal attitude, but in truth, tries not to get too close to anyone for fear of loosing them. She loves the water and is really artful. She does tend to daydream or even talk to herself.

When you say she can see up to 50ft... do you mean if it's clear with nothing in the way? Or is she able to see through things?

I went and edited the special ability part of it. How does it look now?

She sounds fine to me. I just have one curious question. When her father died, was it due to the death of Megan and the Great Death or was it due to something else?

If it was due to something else you may want to mention that his death happened before the Great Death since he and her mother were both Ponies of Light. Also, what happened to her mother? You mention her father but not her mother and that makes me curious.

I don't really think that seeing 50ft away is a "power" so, if you want her to have a power you still can. She doesn't have to have one either. Just note that, since she is 20 years old, I don't think she would discover one at her age. It could just be she doesn't use it and if/when you want her to have one (if you don't decide now) you could still add one at a later date. It would have to be submitted for approval though.

So, basically give us a bit more detail on her parents, and let us know if you plan on her having a power or not.

I reedit again and took away the power than. I decided to get a little meaner and have her mom die later on. I wanted a good reason why she doesn't try to get close to others. I also wanted to give her a reason why she's so maternal too. So I hope this is better now.

And I really don't know where to put her. Definantly in different places than my other two chars. I also want it to be in an area I know where people are posting too.

I'm sorry Pristine but if Marina is 20 years old, than I don't think it is possible that her mother could have been a Pony of Darkness. (other Mods correct me if I'm wrong). Since she couldn't be a POD, her mother must have been a Pony of Light. ALL ponies of light died during the Great Death, that is why that period of time is called that.

So there is no way her mother could have survived the GD. You could have both her parents die, and she would have to take care of herself and the house on her own. In fact that would be a normal occurance for children of the POL who died.

You may wait for another MOD to comment to see if my idea about her mother not being able to be a POD, but if she can't be then you're going to have to alter her history.

The great death took place 18 years ago... that makes our heroine the ripe old age of 2 when it took place. The nice thing about pony character vs. humans is that they mature a lot faster than we do... A 2 year old child would not have survived on it's own where as a 2 year old pony would have.

What you could have happen is that her father died a few days after/before she was born., leaving her mother broken hearted. Her mother could have struggled to do her best to raise the newborn baby etc... until the baby was more self-sufficient. After that, it could've been down hill for the mother with Marina taking care of herself then ultimately her mother too. After that, it could have been the Great Death that killed the mother.

I do feel that at 20 years old, she would have been able to discover a power (sorry Jenny) If you really don't want one, that's fine, but we have children much younger out there who have their powers, there's no reason that Marina couldn't as well.

So Sider, does that mean I make no changes to my pony's past? And I think I won't have her have a power cause my two other ponies do and I want to try different things.

Well, at age 20, Marina would be a first generation pony of darkness and neither of her parents would have survived the Great Death. So... yes, you do have to change it, cause her mom would have died then too. I suggested that if you want the father to go first, have him die either before or jsut after Marina's birth.

About the power thing... good for you! A character with no powers can actually be more interesting to play having to rely on natural skill and luck to get things accomplished.

Hi Pristine! Sorry for the long break on replies here. Well, her age is good, the Background story is better, but now we have just a few more things to tweak.

In her history you say she just had her 20th birthday when her age is 18. So you need ot choose which age you want and edit the character sheet to show one age. Also, her mother can't have died recently. Again, the Great Death took place 18 years ago, so I'd say at most her mother would've died no later than Marina's 3rd-4th birthday.

My suggestion is, edit the age to be 18, and say her mother died on her 3rd or 4th birthday at the tail end of the GD.

Okay I'll edit it after I get this question answered. If her mother died when she was 3 or 4, than who watched after her than?

When all the ponies of light went, they left all the kids behind, at that time there would have been no pony over the age of 10. There were young foals and fillies everywhere that were orphaned so it is thought that some of the oldest ponies (9 & 10 yr olds) would have cared for those that were too young to care for themselves.

So, ya... as long as it is understood that her mom was one of the last to perish, which I can certainly agree to, she's all good. I approve.
